Where does almond flour come from?
The almond is the seed of the almond tree (Prunus dulcis), which grows in mountainous regions with a Mediterranean climate. It originates in Iran. Almonds are harvested in August. Almond flour is made from blanched and then finely ground almonds after harvesting. When blanching, the brown skin is removed and white almonds remain.
Application of Almond flour
Amond flour is an excellent substitute for wheat flour and in many ways healthier. Think of all the dishes for which you use wheat flour (such as pancakes, cake, etc.). The taste is quite neutral, but when you prepare your dishes with only almond flour, your dish can get a slightly nutty aftertaste. In many cases this is an interesting addition to your baking, but if you want to avoid this you can mix the flour with other flours (eg wheat flour) and this accent disappears.

Flour and sieved flour are both made from ground grains.
