Make your own herb mixes or use ready-made ones?

At Vehgro, we are happy to help you on your way: we give you tips on how to make your own herb mix. Would you prefer to order a ready-made herb mix? That is of course also possible. Whether you are looking for a herb mix for fish or minced meat, a Greek, Italian, Indian or Mexican herb mix, at Vehgro we have something for every taste and for every dish. Looking for a mix for pasta Bolognese? Choose Bolognese herb mix!

Create your own herb mix

There are herb mixes in various flavours and for countless dishes. Putting together a herb mix can sometimes take quite some time, so in some cases ready-made is the easiest option. Especially if you are specifically looking for an organic mix of herbs.

Pre-packaged jars of herb mixes in the supermarket are by no means always of organic origin. You can put together the herbs yourself, or order an organic mix from Vehgro.

Mix to suit your taste

Do you make your own mix? Then you can adjust it to your taste. Looking for the perfect combination of curry herbs or burrito herbs? It is handy if you know exactly what has to go in it, but of course you can also let your own taste prevail and choose to add something extra or leave something out. Your herb mix is your party, so live it up.

What is bruschetta?

What exactly is bruschetta? The dish consists of grilled bread (multigrain or white), which has been rubbed with garlic and drizzled with olive oil, plus salt and pepper. In addition to that, on bruschetta you will find tomato/tomato puree, sausage, vegetables, red pepper and sometimes mozzarella cheese. Often the olive oil is mixed with the herbs beforehand.

A bruschetta herb mix

What exactly is in a bruschetta herb mix? Because it is an Italian dish, traditional bruschetta herb mixes contain mainly Italian herbs such as oregano and basil. Salt and pepper are also included, of course.

Did you know that the name 'bruschetta' comes from a Latin verb ('bruscare')? This means 'to roast on coals'. In your bruschetta herb mix you will find besides oregano, basil, garlic and paprika.

What's in a burrito seasoning mix?

As with any herb mix, it is important for the burrito herb mix that all herbs are measured correctly. This is something you can be sure of at Vehgro: we know better than anyone that a mix that is not properly measured is not worth the effort. In a good burrito mix, you need a number of spices, including chilli powder and cayenne pepper. Mixing them well is recommended.

A handful of burrito dishes

There are various dishes in which you can use our burrito spice mix, including a soft-boiled beef burrito: the spice mix perfectly matches the flavour of soft-boiled meat. Vegan burritos can also be seasoned perfectly with burrito spices. Also delicious: a chilli stew burrito (with or without lentils) with burrito spices as flavouring.

Mix for curry spices

Curry powder is in fact a mix of several spices. The composition may vary. Curry is mainly used in Eastern cooking, but you can of course experiment with it to your heart's content.

In the typical curry mix you will find coriander, turmeric, cumin. Often you will find other spices like mustard seed, cayenne pepper, fenugreek, channel, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cardamom. In short: a jar of curry spices is always a surprise.

A Mexican spice mix

A Mexican spice mix: what does that look like? The Mexican spice mix of Vehgro is ideal for seasoning Mexican dishes which include minced meat, chicken breast and pork.

For every 100 grams of meat around 1 teaspoon of herbs is ideal. In the Mexican spice mix you will find cumin, paprika, coriander, oregano, garlic, onion, pepper, salt and turmeric. In short: a feast of flavours, spicy and refined, plus a feast of colours.

An Italian spice mix

Italian spice mix: what's in there? All the best of Italy of course. That is quite a bit. Think basil, think oregano, think thyme. In a real Italian herb mix, garlic powder, parsley, a good dollop of pepper and enough salt should also be used, of course.

Greek herb mix

Good Greek herb mixes include paprika, garlic, salt, thyme, oregano, parsley, pepper and a pinch of cinnamon. The Greek herb mix is ideal for Gyros, for pieces of chicken, meatballs, but also for a tasty twist on jacket potatoes.

Herbal mix according to Indian recipe

The Indian spice mix is ideal for seasoning rice and sauces. The Indian spice mix includes chilli, turmeric, ginger, mace and celery.
