Açai Berry is a small, purple berry of the Açai palm which grows normally in the flood lands and swampy areas of the Brazilian Amazon region. Harvested twice a year, these black glittering berries are a treasure of nutrients embodying a wealth of minerals. The Açai berry seed takes about 80% of the total fruit and the seed can be used in certain animal feeds after grinding.
There are 2 speices of Acai, the Euterpe Oleracea and Euterpe Precatoria. Most of the açai readily available on the market is produced from oleracea variety. Our Açai capsules on the other hand, are made from the more unique botanical variety Euterpe Precatoria which is high in antioxidants. Our Açai is grown in Brazil.

Sourced from the Amazon Region of South America, Camu Camu is a bush which grows wild along the flood plains and is extremely flood tolerant. Traditionally used in native diets as flavouring in sweets, Camu Camu berry is also used in drinks and preserves but, owing to its high nutritional content it is increasingly being used as a food supplement. Camu Camu is high in vitamin C since 2-3 % of the Camu Camu consist out of vitamin C.

Cultivated in spring, Maca is a small root vegetable from the Maca plant grown at altitudes over 3500 metres. Traditionally integrated in the nutrition of natives, the Maca root has evolved into a modern day “superfood”. The Maca is hand selected for the best quality and cleaned in natural water, then the Maca is dried. Using a high temperature the starch molecules are broken down, this process is called gelatinization (This has nothing to do with animal gelatin!), the extraction of the starch facilitates digestion and promotes the bioavailability of other nutrients.

A variant of the liana plant harvested in the Amazon; the skin of Guarana is red whilst the black seeds are surrounded by white flesh. These seeds contain many tannins, proteins and starch. Guarana is packed with antioxidants and large amounts of Guaranine which acts as a natural alternative to caffeine. The Guarana seeds are carefully extracted by hand for the highest quality, cleaned in natural water and dried. The dried Guarana seeds are ground into powder in their raw state.

Curcuma with piperin
Curcuma or Turmeric is a plant of the South and Southeast Asian genus of the ginger family. The turmeric (Curcuma longa) is made from the root of the plant. As a spice, turmeric has a mildly bitter taste and is high on the superfoods list. This is partly because turmeric contains an essential oil that mainly consists of the so-called "Sesquiterpenes". The different types of "sesquiterpenes" have countless positive effects on our body. The contents of the HolyFlavours Curcuma capsules contain turmeric powder and black pepper.
